On the jagged limestone peaks of Cao Ma Pho at 2,200 m, ancient Shan Tuyet trees have gathered the spirit of the high mountains for centuries. Each spring, Red Dao families climb to pick the first buds — the purest gift the land and sky can give.

Picked at the very first flush of spring, the leaves are fixed the same day to lock in their green colour and natural fragrance, then lightly rolled and pan-dried in a cast-iron wok. Unfermented — the purest expression of an ancient tea bud.

Tasting notes
Young rice fragrance, as pure as an early spring morning in the highlands. A light astringency on the tip of the tongue that turns sweet at once, with a clean finish.

Picked mid-season while the buds still wear their snow-white down. Neither rolled nor pan-fired — the leaves wither naturally in the shade and mountain wind, then dry slowly to preserve the silver down and the rhododendron blossom aroma held in every bud. In the cup the leaves open like real petals.

Pure and pristine, like young grass after rain. Gently sweet, cool as a hidden spring, almost without astringency.

Hồng Shan Hoàng Kim

Young shoots from the earliest budding trees of spring. The leaves are withered and thoroughly rolled to break the cells, then fully oxidised — turning from green to red-brown and developing the signature honey and ripe-fruit aroma — before a low-temperature drying fixes the fragrance.

Ô Shan Vân Yên

Harvested in autumn, when the sun softens and mountain mist thickens. The leaves are withered and gently tumbled to bruise their edges, then semi-oxidised — stopped midway, once the aroma has turned but the leaf core is still green — then fixed, rolled into curls and finished over a light fire.

Tasting notes
Autumn sunlight, honey grass and a wisp of smoke like a hillside field at the edge of winter. The creamy body typical of ancient Shan Tuyet, with a deep, lingering sweetness.

EARTH — ANCIENT RAW PRESSED CAKE TEA

Trà Bánh Phúc Mãn

Late-season buds are lightly fixed, briefly rolled, sun-dried and pressed into a round cake — keeping the living microflora in the leaf so it keeps transforming slowly over the years. The round cake symbolises wholeness of feeling and a wish that all things be complete. The highest collector and gifting tier of the collection; each cake is marked with its pressing year.

Tasting notes
Freshly pressed: light astringency, raw wood and hay, a gentle sweet finish. After 3 – 5 years of proper ageing: the astringency softens and notes of honey, ripe apple and agarwood emerge, with a deeper, longer finish.

Deep gold when new, darkening with the age of the cake.

    Dao and Hmong families rise at four in the morning, climb the moss-covered ancient branches and pick every bud by hand — never with metal tools, so the leaf keeps its shape.

    The art of pan-firing

    Fresh leaves wither in the shade, are rolled by hand and fired in an open wok. The master reads the heat with bare hands, preserving the precious white ‘snow’ down.
